PURPOSE
1. Work with a degree of autonomy to contribute effectively toward the Team and Group objectives.
2. Take ownership and responsibility for tasks or projects assigned by line manager or senior/lead engineers.
3. Proactively provide support to peers within the group and seek help from other engineers for further support where required.
4. Contribute to and aid the development/implementation of structural performance.
5. To actively contribute to companies’ primary objective of being a class leader in the delivery of performance programmes.
Primary Responsibilities
1. Undertake structural analysis tasks in support of Structures Group and company Design Office requirements and targets.
2. Provide support for all design groups on structural analysis and optimisation topics.
3. Proactively seek performance development by identifying mass-efficient structures.
4. Manage own workload effectively, meeting tight deadlines where required.
5. Support general departmental workload as required.
6. Continue to develop skills, knowledge and understanding of hand calculations, FEA and associated topics.
7. To chair, attend and proactively participate in meetings as required.
8. To work proactively, responsibly, and professionally at all times and to respect and comply with the company’s reporting structure.
9. Seek to minimise costs whilst maintaining good quality design, processes & development.
10. Any other duties as reasonably requested aligned to your job role.
Skills & Knowledge Required
1. Possess a good working knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and structural hand calculations. Experience in relevant FEA software.
2. Possess a good understanding of structural topics (e.g. material properties, failure, fatigue).
3. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant/transferable field.
4. To be self-motivated, have a flexible attitude and ability to work as part of a team in a demanding and rapidly changing environment.
5. Demonstrate a positive and “can do” attitude.
6. Adopt a consistent and positive approach in times of pressure and high workload to achieve targets and deliver results within required timescales.
7. To communicate effectively, positively, and respectfully with all colleagues whilst demonstrating an awareness of peers’ workloads and priorities.
8. Be results orientated and be confident in your decision-making skills.
9. Experience in a relevant field within a Formula One environment / high level Motorsport environment desirable.
10. Be enthusiastic and versatile and be able to build, develop and maintain good working relationships within own department and with other key contacts across the team.
11. Actively seek to build a thorough understanding of areas of the business and interactions that affect Structures.
12. Ability to demonstrate a clear understanding of, and commitment to, Health & Safety.
