Our client is a global leader who specialize in the two-piece aluminum beverage and food can industries, offering integrated solutions through a unitized and pre-assembled strategy. Whether for greenfield facilities, line expansions, or ongoing support, our client provides a comprehensive solution for every project phase.
We’re seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer with a strong focus on piping design and sizing, particularly in hot/cold water reticulation, compressed air, and chilled cooling water systems. This role will support large-scale mechanical system design and engineering, involving hands-on use of AutoCAD to develop high-quality, efficient systems for complex facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipe System Design & Sizing: Expertly design and size pipes for various systems, including hot/cold water reticulation, compressed air, and chilled water, ensuring optimal flow and pressure.
- System Development: Conduct thorough designs for process piping and ductwork systems, including routing, material selection, and piping supports.
- AutoCAD Proficiency: Create and manage high-precision drawings using AutoCAD in alignment with established standards, ensuring designs are accurate and fabrication-ready.
- Technical Documentation: Develop detailed P&IDs, PFDs, isometrics, and other technical documents essential for complex system designs.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with electrical engineers, vendors, and on-site teams to align system designs with overall project requirements, ensuring accurate and on-time delivery.
- Material Take-Offs & Quality Reviews: Oversee material take-offs and provide review checkpoints at various stages, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and readiness for fabrication and installation.
- Field Support: Provide technical support during installation and startup, with travel required domestically and internationally (10-35%) to oversee project phases.
- Education: Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (required); EIT registration is a plus.
- Experience: 2-5 years in Mechanical Engineering with a specific focus on pipe design and sizing. Proficiency in piping systems for water, compressed air, and cooling systems.
- Technical Skills: Strong experience in AutoCAD (required) for piping and system design; familiarity with Navisworks and CAESAR II/Bentley Auto Pipe is advantageous.
- Analytical Ability: Demonstrated ability in problem-solving, with a technical understanding of mechanical systems and piping configurations.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to work collaboratively across disciplines.
- Flexibility: Willing to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends or holidays.
