TXM Recruit is working in partnership with an award-winning organisation. They are expanding and are looking for Estimating assistant/ Junior Estimator to join their team located in the heart of London. This position will be based in Paddington, ideally looking for someone with a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience with a salary up to £40K per annum.

Your duties will consist of reviewing bid requirements thoroughly and developing RFI’s and clarifications to ensure adequate subcontractor coverage. You will be required to review tender drawings with the project team and highlight areas of concern.

Responsibilities
  • Prepares subcontractor bid packages.
  • Shows creativity and resourcefulness to gain better pricing from subcontractors.
  • Review bid requirements thoroughly and asks follow-up question on every bid.
  • Has a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned.
  • Minimize exclusions to the tender by Liaising with client and subcontractor.
  • Highlighting subcontractors and materials that require lead times for design and materials.
  • Ensures that subcontractors and materials suppliers can meet with the programmed dates.
  • Handle all subcontractor interactions in a manner designed to build a long-term relationship.
  • Build relationships with other departments within Spence including Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Accounting, HSQE and Buying
  • Work with the pre-construction team to ensure that Spence bids and proposals are competitive and have the greatest chance of winning.
  • Work alongside the Lead Estimator and other members of the Pre-Construction team to carry out day to day activities as required.
Qualifications/Skills
  • Degree Qualified/HNC or HND.
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office.
  • Estimating software
  • 2 years previous experience
  • Previous site / industry experience
  • Experience in schedule of rates
  • NEC3/4 Contract awareness
  • Complete all activities with a pride of ownership “as if it was your name on the door.”
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be self-motivated & punctual.
