TXM Recruit Client, Candidate, TXM News...
TXM Recruit launched a highly successful contractor engagement award, celebrating the hard work achieved by individual TXM Recruit contractors working with Hitachi Rail Europe (HRE).
All TXM Recruit HRE contractors and their managers were invited to nominate members of staff whom they felt had gone the Xtra Mile for Hitachi across their three sites: Newton Aycliffe, Doncaster and North Pole and Eastleigh. We caught up with Hitachi's Account Manager Charlie Webster who lead on the project and he shared with us how the awards unfolded.
“Just before Christmas last year, I was tasked with executing our new ‘Contractor of the Year’ awards for our HRE based contractors. We contacted all TXM contractors and their line managers and invited them to nominate a team member or members that they believed had gone The Xtra Mile for HRE. We asked them to share who they felt should win and importantly why they should win.
“As a follow up, I visited each HRE site over Christmas with fellow TXM Recruit consultants Bethan Thomas and Leah Cook where we put on a Christmas spread and hosted some games as a welcome treat on site. During this time, we also handed out Contractor of the Year nomination forms to complete on the day.
“We then collated the nominations and counted up the votes. A hugely influential factor was why they were voted for, as this added weight to the nomination. After a detailed review we announced our four winners; Cyral Williamson at the Eastleigh Depot, Simon Blewitt at the Newton Aycliffe Depot, Vaisakh Sasidharan and Steven Riley at the Doncaster Depot.
“We were blown away with the level of engagement as we had so many nominations come through from contractors and managers with really detailed reasons why they were nominated.
“The feedback we received from the approach was great because our contractors understand it’s recognition from your peers and superiors, it’s like receiving the ‘players’ players vote’ which is always regarded as the most prominent accolade within sporting teams.
“This was a brilliant project to be a part of and we found so many benefits for all parties involved, including the awards themselves being handed out on each site as it brought all of the TXM family of contractors together at one point to celebrate their success.
“After the award’s first hugely successful year we will be looking to build upon it for 2019 and beyond and are excited by what the future holds for our contractors.”
