Commercial Assistant – Rail Construction
Midlands
£250 per day (Umbrella rate)
6 – 12 month contract
 
Our client requires a Commercial Assistant to join their team supporting business activities across a number of projects covering platform extensions, depot builds, facility enhancements and other rail construction projects.
 
The role will involve supporting Commercial Managers and Project Teams and requires 3 or 4 days per week on site in the West Midlands.
 
The successful Commercial Assistant will have previous experience supporting Commercial Managers with tasks including:
 
  • Support periodic cost reporting, including provision of Anticipated Final Cost, Actual Cost of Work Performed, and Forecast to Completion.
  • Assist with the management of existing contracts, reviewing and completing contract amendments and liaising with stakeholders.
  • Assist in the administration of contracts of varying values and complexity, driving compliance.
  • Assist in overseeing contracts to ensure reporting obligations are met.
  • Managing contract communication including creating and distributing action lists and producing meeting minutes.
  • Supporting the maintenance of the project risk and opportunity register.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to manage the closeout of all assigned projects, implementing close-out plan(s) to ensure all defects are recorded, warranties received, and contracts closed, as well as completion of financial close-out.
 
Key Skills
 
  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent commercial awareness.
  • Strong knowledge of reporting and financial processes.
  • Strong IT skills, including a good understanding of Microsoft Excel.
  • A good communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Knowledge of NEC options.
  • Knowledge of risk allocation.
